rRaggae Gospel - Rythm too distracting our you not paying attention... 1 Year, 2 Months ago
Some of us seem to be getting carried away and treating Gospel (reggae) artistes as entertainers - not saying that we shouldn't be entertained but wi not trying to listen.....

Was at Fymi 09 on sunday... ordinary on stage with Lypher and some lil groupie up di front of the stage jus a scream out dem lungs and not even listening to what dem saying ... Ordinary and Lyher on stage trying to get them to listen to the lyrics of the song but with hardly any luck..... yow these Gospel Music Ministers (some - hate to sound so bias) are blessed with extrodinary lyrics they a great lyrisist and I can say that what there are saying Glorify God to di fullest....

You say the rythmn is distracting because of the choice of rythmn (ones that are also used by secular artistes) , but is the rythmn too distracting or is it jus you not listening to what the ppl dem a try tell you...

I strongly believe that it's distracting. People just listen to the rythm at first and if they like it they then try to learn the words.

It's the same thing with holy hip hop. I know that they(Artists) are trying to bring across the of the cross and it does work but not all the time.

Some song aren't even theologically put together properly. I'm seeing people dancing sinfully to some of these (juve ,Baccanal) songs. I know that this wasn't the artists original intention but it's happening.

Just like with anything else, we got to be prayerful. What is the purpose of making Christian music? to give God Praise (which will include persons being edified by the music).

A Gospel song includes both beats and lyrics, I dont think alotta persons really think about this but a beat in a song is very important and should be carefully chosen. a beat can be used either to make the message of the lyrics clearer or not. chose your beats prayerfully and also be able to "break down" the words for people at concerts.

re: the groupies...what i see lacking in the reggae Gospel arena is the correction in this area...artistes should make it clear that they dont want anybody screaming after them and fanning themselves....artistes should learn to rebuke in love this act that is very common

I agree with you totally.. however I have had the priv.. to actually see some (very few) artistes trying to get persons to listen to the message and have said things on stage ... letting persons know that its not them but its God they should be sreaming for and they are nothing but the messengers.

yeah we do need artistes to reassure persons... and not get too caught up in the moment and and spot light.

Is there something wrong with D.J Nicholas singing on rhythms that are used for cumina celebrations.
A lot of people are saying that it is demonic and they have gone on to tell me of how demon possess people are eating off the head of a raw fowl as soon as the rhythm starts.

It's not the song that D.j Nicholas sings it's the rhythm it's demonic should he sing on that sort of a rhythm?www.praiseriot.com/components/com_firebo...emoticons/unsure.png
