Where Are You, God?! E-mail

Though we can?t see Him, God hasn?t forsaken us. He is not distant from us! It might not sound comforting, but God has to allow suffering in this fallen world. He allows it so that the whole world can benefit. Things happen to undeserving people, like Jesus Christ, who was the only truly innocent human being to live, but was crucified. Even Jesus, hanging from the cross asked, ?Father, why have You forsaken me?!? [Matthew 27: 46]. Like us He asked, ?Where are You, God?!? Though He was perfect He suffered, because He entered a world tainted by disobedience, where the order or pattern is not perfect. He felt the full effects of suffering ? even His friends betrayed and denied Him, the ones He came to save crucified Him, soldiers mocked Him, religious leaders opposed and threatened Him, and finally He was killed. God allowed it! What if God had prevented His righteous Son from being killed? But Jesus was killed! How undeserving!
But there will come a day when no one will ask, ?Where are You, God?? For on that day God will destroy the current order and create a new one, where there?s no more suffering. [Revelation 21: 1 ? 4]. But for now God has offered to help us in our times of loss. "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest,? He said in St. Matthew 11: 28. In this order sin and death reign supreme, but someday God will make every question and doubt a thing of the past.

And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, "Now the dwelling of God is with men, and he will live with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. 4He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.
Revelation 21: 3 ? 4

I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us. 19The creation waits in eager expectation for the sons of God to be revealed. For the creation was subjected to frustration, not by its own choice, but by the will of the one who subjected it, in hope that the creation itself will be liberated from its bondage to decay and brought into the glorious freedom of the children of God. We know that the whole creation has been groaning as in the pains of childbirth right up to the present time. Not only so, but we ourselves, who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we wait eagerly for our adoption as sons, the redemption of our bodies.
Romans 8: 18 - 24
