Leo Lewis is proud to call Jamaica his place of birth.

He was born in the St. Ann’s Bay Hospital in the year 1979. He is son to Mr. and Mrs. Lisander Lewis and has one sibling, Mr. Leighton Lewis, a musician in his own right and one of Leo’s producers. He has lived in Clarendon for all his life and attended the St. Thomas More Preparatory School and the well renowned Glenmuir High School. In fourth form, while attending that prestigious school, he became a Christian. However, this was not the first time he had come in contact with the providence of Jesus Christ.

He attended several assemblies, namely the Church of the Open Bible on Storks Street, May Pen and the May Pen Baptist Church (all this at a tender age).

One of my greatest testimonies is God’s protection. One evening as he and his family were coming from a weekend retreat with, the clutch cable of his fathers Ford Capri broke, while the car was in fourth gear at Ewarton. Of course you can see the dilemma: driving through the Bog Walk gauge, driving through Old Harbour and finally to May Pen, and the Lord did protect him and his family and his father drove his heart out.

After becoming a Christian in March 1994, he remained in the same congregation in which he was saved, The Faith General Baptist Church, pastored by Rev. D. Griffiths. He was filled with the Holy Spirit a year after and from then on, God has been proving himself in every aspect of his life. During all that time, Leo was being taught and nurtured, as he spent much time in the presence of the Lord during his sixth form years at Glenmuir and it was during those times that the Lord strengthened the call to preach the gospel to the captives on his life. He then moved on to The University of Technology Jamaica, where he was a proud student of the School of Information Technology, where he majored in Electronic Commerce. He is now teaching at his Alma maître where he has been trying to make as many contributions as he possible can. He was ordained to be a deacon in his church in September 2006 in his church where he still now serves.

He desire for music started from an early age (as does everybody else’s), but gave it a backseat until he finished educating himself. His brother, who is a great influence on him, expressed his producing desires, and both decided to work on their musical careers. He is currently working on an album, which promises to be good. If the Lord had not indicated the importance of ministering through music, he would not have taken the time. But Leo has seen it fit to make this effort as another medium to share the things God has laid on his heart with a nation, with the globe. He is also the sound engineering of the Instrument of Praise Ministry, based in Spalding’s Manchester.
