| Garfield Reid Country : Jamaica Info: [ show or hide ] “My sole purpose is to minister not to entertain…the songs I sing should foremost minister to the messenger before it can touch and transform the lives of others.” These words have been the hallmark of Garfield Reid’s singing ministry since he began in 2003. Since then, Garfield has had the privilege of participating at crusades, conventions and concerts. Born December 13th, 1982 on an early Monday morning at the Victoria Jubilee Hospital, to Cleveland Reid (Father) and Florence Allison (Mother). Garfield Reid grew up in the community of Waterford, Portmore where he attended Independence City All Age School and Waterford High School. He later went on to Camperdown High School Sixth Form and soon after The University of the West Indies, Mona Campus to pursue a Bachelor of Arts Degree in History and Political Science in which he was successful. Garfield Reid attends the Waterford Missionary Church in Portmore which is overseen by Reverend Spencer Colquhoun. Garfield Reid accepted Christ from an early age and has been baptized since October 6, 1996. He is also the drummer, the Assistant Musical Director, a Cell Group leader and the Programme Co-ordinator for his Church. In light of this, Garfield Reid, a worshipper by nature has made positive and impressive strides in the music arena and has so far released two (2) original singles – “A prayer a way” and “Dance” - in June and August 2006 respectively. Both songs have received favourable reviews as they have been played rather frequently on various radio stations. Garfield has collaborated with “Blessed” on the Mainframe rhythm and released “King Jesus Reigns” in November 2005. This song was heavily rotated on radio namely; Mega Jams ’98 and LOVE 101. The Mainframe CD is currently in stores. The building blocks of Garfield’s ministry include the Portmore Vision Gospel Choir (PVGC). With PVGC, he had the opportunity to minister at ‘Genesis 2004’ at Jam World, ‘Choir Fest 2004’ and ‘It Soon Be Done’ in November 2005 at Cinema Two, New Kingston. Notably, all of whom Garfield has worked with in the past still shares a very good relationship with him. Recently Garfield Reid also ministered at the 2007 Genesis Festival at the Kingston leg. Garfield entered the 2007 JCDC Gospel Song Competition with an original song entitled “Signs of the Time”. The song was filled with words of warning yet its soothing melody captured the hearts of all listeners. After months of performing and touring, Garfield was crowned gospel song champion on July 22, 2007. This dynamic young man also walked away with the award for Most Outstanding Performer much to the delight of his adoring fan club. Garfield Reid is a minister at heart and music lovers can expect greater things from him in the near future.
