Finally, the night anticipated, and in some cases bashed by many for whatever reason, was here. Now no one could say they weren't warned, because at minutes to 7:00, already the church was almost jam packed! Thankfully on our arrival, the seating arrangement which we thought was quaint and neat as we saw the night before, was removed to make way for a capacity the host pastor would hope he'd welcome every Sunday morning service. As promised, that large balcony hosted a large screen to bring live coverage of the happenings on the inside. By the time Auntie Nadine, broadcaster at Love FM and leader of Perpetual Praise, got things under way it was already 8'o Clock, and by this time outside and inside were 'filled till it full'! Host Pastor of Hope Fellowship, Sam McCook offered a hearty welcome to everyone which segwayed into worship led by representatives of Chosen Vessel and Perpetual Praise. The house was on its feet for praise and worship, singing, clapping and dancing, as the praises went up like a sweet aroma. With the atmosphere charged, the stage set, the spirit of God ushered into the assembly, and the musicians, uniformly attired in their tuxedos, in position, the man of the evening was now ready to take the stage. The lights dimmed to set the mood; it was time to take you through "Songs From My Midnight". Prodigal Son took to the stage and positioned himself for a rather dramatic representation to illustrate the frame of mind beginning with Track #9 "This Place". With his performance well underway as he released selection after selection from disc one "Songs From My Midnight", Prodigal began to exhort. Announcing, "I've been delivered from people", the band broke out into "They Don't Know". As if that wasn't enough, the house went into total disarray, people searching for places to jump and dance when the hit song "Blessings A Run Mi Dung" was introduced. After all that, a break was only right to have the patrons refreshed. As some persons shuffled to make their way outside, others decided to `rough it` inside for fear they would lose their standing pass. At this time, we saw Jah Cure, popular Rastafarian artiste recently released from prison making his way towards backstage with his entourage. Squeezing our way through the crowd, we were just in time to catch a photo opportunity of Prodigal Son embracing Jah Cure, in show of obvious appreciation of his support. B-Mobile, corporate sponsor of Prodigal Son, took the opportunity to greet the patrons as the second segment of the night was about to begin. They welcomed the patrons by announcing their new service, "Bling-Back Tones", giving some details of the service exclusive to their existing B-Mobile customers. What made the announcement even more special was that they were using Prodigal as the first artiste of all that they would sponsor to launch this service. The service enables you to assign a song from Prodigal Son's new album as your ring back tone, which will be heard by anyone calling you instead of the "ring, ring" that would normally be heard. Chief Executive Officer of Partners Financial and Investments Limited, Gary Pusey, main sponsor of Prodigal Son, continued to rain in the good news as he also announced that for the next three (3) years, Prodigal Son will act as the face of their institution, from billboards to brochures. Prodigal was also set to receive a spanking new company vehicle and he would also receive a monthly salary as a PFI Executive. "Blessings a run mi dung" indeed! Though the patrons were welcoming and thankful of the good news, it was about time for the second segment to be commenced. It was time to unleash songs from Disc 2, "The Break of Day". As the band took to the stage, there was no Prodigal Son to be found. Nevertheless, as the singers charged towards the stage chanting "welcome back prodigal", those on the inside were left to envy the patrons on the outside, when they heard Prodigal singing from the balcony. The whole building rocked to the various selections. ![]() prodigal son welcomes jah cure on stage at his album launch, and after allowing him to render an item, he invites the crowd to pray for Jah Cure In the midst of all the worship and praise came an unexpected announcement. Prodigal called Jah Cure to the platform. There were many who cheered and screamed, and there were others who were like, "What?" Jah Cure sang one of his new releases which was about freedom and being free. At the end of the song, Prodigal asked the congregation to lift their hands towards Jah Cure and then proceeded to lay his hand and pray for his salvation. All this took place after Richie Stephens had collaborated with Prodigal Son earlier during "Songs from My Midnight". What's Next?! Rolling on rapid, "Hustler" featuring Omari was next, "hustling" for souls for the Kingdom. The already popular "Lava Ground" cleared the path for the place to "Ketch A Fire" as Jason Lil` J Mighty joined with his brother causing the building to erupt. With so much fire and tension in the already over-pouring building, things were only destined to intensify as Micah Stampley joined Prodigal onstage as they called out the "New Generation", leading to Micah proclaiming his `Jamerican` status, as he showed everyone how to "get crazy fi Jesus", hitting some seriously high notes on a dancehall rhythm. As the fire subsided from the building, bringing "The Break of Day" to a close and signaling the time to go, the excitement seemed shut-up in the patrons bones. Baring the excitement, Prodigal decided to use the final section of his already awesome launch concert to give thanks to all who helped to make the night a success and contributing to his ministry and career. From his band members to the host Pastor, he presented awards to people and organizations that have been supportive of his ministry over the years. With no intention to do a curtain call on the outside, Marlon Young of Fame FM, who recently got saved in August 2007, and DJ Wade took to the turntables, turning the Album Launch into a Jesus Party experience.
