The anticipated album launch of young gospel artiste Minister Blessed was held on Saturday the 22 st of December 2007. Blessed, whose real name is Matthew Blake, held the launch at his home church Portmore Gospel Chapel across from the Lion's Club at the Edgewater roundabout. The concert started roughly around 7:45 pm with some praise and worship ushering in the presence of the Most High to come and inhabit the praises of His people. There was a fair turn out at the beginning of the show with the church well on its way to being full. After this, the night's first host Kalando took the stage. He wasted no time in getting the first minister on the stage as he called up Trevon. The literally young artise delivered two songs. The first being his charge to Christians to "Knock out, Run out and Kick out the devil". He then told us of the "Joy In His Heart". Following Trevon, Chronicle took the stage. His songs "One More Chance, One More Day" and "God A Mi Boss" were well received by the moderately sized crowd. The procession of young artistes continued with singjay DJ Equip who got the crowd involved with his piece, "Jesus Christ, You are My King." The singer Alvado was up next and he got the crowd mellow and ready for what was to come next. You guessed it!!! The man of the hour came next to the surprise of many as several more artists were listed to minister. After a small introduction from Kalando he took the stage to rapturous applause. His musical introduction had the crowd rocking and going wild. Blessed then went into some of his more popular songs such as "Problem" and "Dandy Shandy." He then broke from his album to give the meaning of Christmas. Following true to the word of God, he shared his testimony in song, which coincidentally is one of the best songs on his album. Not forgetting the true meaning of the night, there was a break in which Blessed's father, Elder Michael Blake, who gave a short exhortation and charge to his son, joined another elder in blessing the album. Immediately following this, the night's second MC Andre Simpson took the stage. He brought on DJ Brandon whose lyrical introduction had the crowd in a frenzy. He was followed, to the crowd's massive approval, by Tin I Cool. Tin I's songs "Ghetto Christian" and Neva Lose Faith" were just exactly what the doctor ordered to keep the vibes level in the small church hitting the roof. After Tin I Cool, another young artiste stepped up. Timothy, pretty much an unknown entity in the gospel scene, took the stage. Facing some technical difficulties with his music, the young rapper decided he would not let the devil stop his ministry. He unleashed a freestyle piece that no doubt showed the amazing anointing on his life and ministry. This artiste will certainly not be unknown much longer. After another introduction from Kalando who was back as host, Blessed came with a wardrobe change and rappers S.O.P. in tow. Their song Hallelujah brought the vibes level to the top of the house. When they were finished, anyone there could see that the roof was barely hanging on and as if Blessed was on a vendetta against it he called up gospel heavyweight Ryan Mark. As they declared war against the enemy with their song "Alright Then", the crowd's response showed that Ryan Mark and Blessed weren't the only ones who could attack. Immediately following Ryan was Garfield Reid. He and Blessed's collaboration "You Are Holy" had the place filled with worshippers. Blessed finished with his title track "Purpose" done with Danah. When the night was over all there were truly blessed and one could see that the longevity of this radical form of ministry and praise can never be in question. Truly this launch did fulfill its purpose.
