Perpetual Praise paved the way with worship songs such as Trading My Sorrows; Hallelujah to the Lamb; Above All and Empty Me. Armed with the support of several of his fellow ministers, JAI’s launch was destined for greatness and much excitement as Jason ‘Lil’ J’ Mighty was first to attack the stage. Amidst some technical difficulties, the crowd just couldn’t find it in themselves to be lured from the captivating sounds of “Ketch A Fire” as they joined in chorus word for word. As he stomped towards the stage, Ryan Mark was his usual self, giving brazen testimony to his faith in God as he ministered, though still sadden by the loss of his firstborn child. The radical man of God opened he stint with “God Have Mi Back!” Song after song he delivered passionately, even pausing to declare that despite his circumstance he will remain faithful to his call, and that he’s present because he is a man of his word. With the stage set and an ideal atmosphere: even with the intermingling if adults, teens and children…it was clear that the support for this debut solo appearance had support that many should covet. But before the man of the evening came to the stage, a most compelling and praise worthy introduction was delivered by Rev. Dr. Ezekiel Curtis. He gave witness Jai’s involvement in church as a teen, and how he received the baptism of the Holy Spirit as a young Christian. After a palpitating musical intro, Jai opened his presentation much to the delight of the patrons with title track, “Best Friend”. Sons of The Prophet also known as SOP, was then the first of the feature acts on the album to join JAI on stage as they performed the bonus track “Jesus I Love You”, which had the crowd going. But with the introduction of the young deejay/rapper, Dwayne ‘D.A.J.’ Jackson, the energy level rose as he collaborated on “Coming Soon”, a song which takes note of the evil deeds being carried out by men and warning them of the second coming of Jesus Christ. Showing no fear in declaring the Word of God next was deejay Moses to perform “I Ain’t Scared”. Following a slew of deliveries, JAI’s exit made way for Goddy Goddy, who teamed up with Omari with “Evil Minds”. What the crowd could not escape though was comical yet sobering performance, which had everyone in stitches. This signaled the return of JAI to the stage with “Healing”, “Don’t Be Ashamed” and “Show Some Love”. Clear was the intent to bring a more reflective and encouraging was the theme to this section of the evening, as all three songs were enhanced by a one-drop reggae arrangement, announcing faith, love and worship. A remixed arrangement of “Spend My Always” featuring Tamara 'Tina' James from defunct group TNJ allowed the patrons to join in worship with this well known song. Prodigal Son then hit the stage which certainly cause and eruption amongst the patrons with dynamic and housing shaking delivery of what some would call a controversial and very popular song “Lava Ground”. For the third time Jai returned dressed in a full-white suit and sitting on a stool, he testified about some of his life’s experiences, from his childhood difficulties to being an artiste. Emotional to say the least was JAI’s revelation of being united with his brother and other family members that he didn’t knew he had after 25 years. No show would be complete of course without “You Can Take Away My Home” being performed, which seg-wayed into discipleship and an alter call. Answering the call to surrender their lives were Men, women and children who came forward. What was special though was though it was few; to have seen some men immediately began to worship with lifted hands. The man with the ‘big mouth’, Dj Nicholas came and did a quick stint, changing the mood into a praise party. “Back To The Owner” and “God Man” proved crowd pleasers. By the end of his set, Jai with an attempt to add some theatrics to this already unforgettable experience returned to the stage for his finally on the back of candy orange theme hot rod motor cycle, marking the what we here at PRAISERIOT.COM like to call the beginning of the end, as he sang “All I Need”, sending the Oakland Entertainment Complex in frenzy. He then rolled back the curtain to the surprise of the patrons, when he was joined on stage by two of his previous band mates from world renown gospel band Katalys Crew, Radik who completed the once dynamic duo and Corik Clarke lead keyboardist for a vibrant delivery of “Narrow Road”.
The
finale of this most filling experience saw Mr. Buchanan, JAI, paying
respects the persons who made the evening an unforgettable one, he then
paid his respects and appreciation to his band and backup singers.
