![]() Chosen Vessel, one of the `illest` choral performers in Jamaica, decided to bring all their crazy lil’ antics of praise and worship into one power packed explosive presentation, and for those who were not there - I don’t know how many times I have to repeat this from past events, but "YEAH" you missed it all! Though the event, to be frank, was late in commencing, if you were a Chosen Vessel fan on December 8th 2007, nothing would have allowed you to become uneasy about this wait, because for sure, the atmosphere was already charged in anticipation of a whole show of purely Chosen Vessel, giving live and hype performances, clean and tight vocals, and awe-inspiring, powerful ministry. Of course, the organizers knew what it was like to just get a 15-minute set of Chosen Vessel - so the venue that was decided upon, though it obviously must have been a pricey endeavor, was only clear that they did not want for a moment for anyone to get uncomfortable. The event was hosted by the Courtleigh Auditorium in New Kingston, a reformed movie theatre and of course, air conditioned. With all that out of the way, a trumpeter led us in the National Anthem of Jamaica and an awe-inspiring prayer paved the way for an evening to remember. The house was laced with fans, well-wishers and dignitaries: Among those in the house were Robert Levy (President & CEO of Jamaica Broilers Group of Companies) and his wife, Jermaine Edwards, Jody McCalla of True Worshippers, Olecia Wedderburn of Love FM and Gary Pusey of Partners Financial & Investments. Melodies, led by Noel Willis Jr. (son of the Founder of the legendary Grace Thrillers) was first out. They were so contemporarily attired to complement the already vibrant arrangement of the auditorium bursting with colors. It was clear the agenda was to take us into a mode of worship. With some very subtle and polished items to charge the atmosphere, Melodies was right on point with whetting the appetite of all present for a night of unbelievable performances. As Chosen Vessel consumed the stage, comfortably clad, they were accepted by a very appreciative audience with cheers and applause. Now if you were not familiar with Chosen Vessel before this moment, it was quite clear that they meant business and by that I mean they intended to "break out ", because as they came to the stage, they were flanked by some well known “power house” vocals to ensure that while they were getting out, the vocal precision would not be compromised. Breaking the anxiety-filled tension of the auditorium was the bubbling of some pulsating base lines and the chanting of "Jesus" by Chosen Vessel. Chris, the very animated director of Chosen Vessel led the way through the set, which included renditions of Kurt Carr's "In The Sanctuary" and Tye Tribbet's "Victory". Chris, who was not short for words to exhort the crowd through the entire night then introduced Kevin Downswell to the delight of the crowd. For those who are familiar with Kevin Downswell, one could never expect anything less than a very intense presentation. As he entered the stage calling on a sound of praise, "one that pulls the Lord to us", the crowd stood to their feet as the already heated auditorium was led to a higher level of worship. It was clear that the agenda of the evening was entirely to magnify the necessity of Worship. Chris after denouncing the “Generation X” connotation, then continued to lead Chosen Vessel through some original songs as well as "We Declare War" (Kurt Carr), and so began the craziness as we know it! The tenor line broke through the formation, dancing up a storm, as Chris shouted the beginning of the end of an electrifying delivery of what was called the “Holy Ghost Party”. One of the most memorable moments was when they remixed a song and they in unison did the “matrix” move. One of the other antics unleashed that night was when Chosen Vessel, though hampered slightly by some technical difficulties, introduced their next song with a popular Sunday school song "If you’re happy and you know it, clap your hands". It was at this time when Nadine Blair who was among the background vocals came to lead this song with TJ (Alfred Tomlinson) of Chosen Vessel as they instructed the crowd to wave and stomp. As the electrifying delivery came to a close, the next act for the evening was introduced by a recorded vocal of Jermaine Edwards speaking on worship and introducing Prodigal Son. With no time to waste, Prodigal entered the stage with a very emotionally driven presentation of "You Bless Me Too Much". He then went straight into "Blessings a Run Me Down" and "Lava Ground" from his latest double-disc project, The Prodigal Son. The crowd erupted as he invited his brother Jason "Lil J" Mighty to sing "Ketch a Fire". The set was then brought to a close with "Dry Bones" Next was the always inspiring Perpetual Praise, introduced by a recorded vocal from DJ Nicholas. Though they were slow to the stage, as we heard a voice from back stage call out "where my shoes", there was no disappointment once they all got there. Nadine Blair was already ushering the audience into worship. As she exhorted the crowd with her prayer for the Lord to empty her, "Empty me of self oh Lord", she said, the rhythm guitarist led the way inviting everyone into a time of praise and worship with his electronic guitar. She then welcomed the audience to join her in examination as she sang "Take it away from me... sending all that is of God". Taking over from Nadine was Floreen of Perpetual Praise who then led the audience through sustained worship and even as they exited the stage, the crowd was still in a very tense mood of worship. With no intention to break or interfere with the worship well underway in the house, Chosen Vessel was again welcomed back to the stage with a recorded vocal from Nadine Blair speaking on her experiences with Chosen Vessel. As they entered the stage, their attire spoke volumes of what was planned for the final segment of the show. "You brought me through, spared my life, nobody but You", Chosen Vessel in chorus as they continued to worship. In an effort not to hinder the mood, Chris again exhorted the audience shouting "You alone" sustaining the atmosphere of worship as the house sang along saying "You alone". The final set saw Kayan Wilson delivering a thunderous performance and Noel Willis Jr. and Jody McCalla of True worshippers, leading Chosen vessel in song. By this time, Chosen Vessel was now flanked on stage by Melodies, Kevin Downswell, Prodigal Son and Perpetual Praise. Again in a very daring exhortation, Chris, of Chosen Vessel, encouraged the audience to be holy as God is holy. What happened after that moment was pure pandemonium. With every effort to bring the evening’s proceedings to a close, there was song after song after song which almost gave the impression that the agenda for the rest of the evening was scratched. Some of the main culprits for this were everyone on stage, but at this time there was no more to report as the evening was just now subjected to levels of craziness that are indescribable.
