"Go, gather together all the Jews who are in Susa,
and fast for me. Do not eat or drink for three days, night or day. I
and my maids will fast as you do. When this is done, I will go to the
king, even though it is against the law. And if I perish, I perish."
Esther 4:16
What if you heard that a king is coming to your home to have dinner with you? How would you feel if you were told that you were no longer a peasant, but are invited to live within the palace walls? What would you do or give to spend one night with royalty? What if today you could spend one night with the King? What if…?
If ever you wonder if you could be royalty, well I have good news for you: You could become a Child of God if you believe in the finished work of Jesus Christ. The earth has had its fare share of royalties who ruled in various ways, some for the better and some for the worse. History taught us how they love and were loved, and hated and were hated. But there is a King who transcends history; He is the creator of matter, space and time. This King is Jesus Christ, the Son of God!
Revelation 19: 16, speaking of Jesus Christ says, “On his robe and on his thigh He has this name written: KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS.” In this world you usually have to be born from royalty to become royalty, but if you are born in this world you were born as a sinner, alienated from the family of the Holy God. [Colossians 1:21]. But one moment, one night could change all that. The Gospel of John reminds us that “He was in the world, and though the world was made through Him, the world did not recognize Him. He came to that which was His own, but His own did not receive Him. Yet to all who received Him, to those who believed in His name, He gave the right to become children of God— children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband's will, but born of God.” [St. John 1: 10 – 13]. If ever you yield your will and become convinced who Jesus really is by the conviction of the Holy Spirit, you are born again of God. The LORD of the universe has become your Father and you have royalty. But becoming a Child of God is quite costly though, for the world we live in His hostile towards Him and all His children. You have to count the cost, for becoming a Christian will cause you to be persecuted for Christ. But like Queen Esther you have to be resolute and faithful, denying yourself and walk in to the King who is patiently waiting for you to come to Him. If you die, you die, but you must come into the King and live forever. It cost Christ His blood and life to make it possible for you to become God’s Child. The world killed Him for they hated Him. I can honestly tell you that it is pretty costly to spend one night with this King. You have to walk in a new way, not in the sinful addictions you are walking in. God requires holiness, for without it no man will see Him. [Hebrews 12:14]. Count the cost, and come and spend one night with the King.
