How Can I Be Saved?! E-mail

?How can I be saved?? is a question that is asked over-and-over again by many sinners. But many only ask, not because of conviction by the Holy Spirit, but for debating purposes. Sometimes you talk to them about their need for the Saviour, they ask what are they being saved from or who. Sin blinds us from the reality and necessity of God?s great salvation. The fact is that, apart from Jesus Christ, we are all born in sin and judgment of the Almighty is what we deserve. But by His wonderful love and amazing grace and great mercy He made a way for sinful men to be reconciled unto Him and escape to power of sin and its penalties.

In the book of Acts chapter 16, the Bible records how the Apostles Paul and Silas were both imprisoned because they were being too vocal about their Lord and faith. These were men who knew God for themselves, for in their state, bound and beaten, they demonstrated the peace that Christ gives by singing songs of praise unto God. Though they were in prison, they were free men. The jailor on the other hand, was held captive by sin, seeking peace and purpose. Just like me who didn?t know Christ, he sought Him. And just like me he found Him. He witnessed the peace and freedom that God freely gives.

But it wasn?t easy for him. He was asleep when God opened the doors of the prison and all the prisoners were loosed from their chains. He knew what would happen if prisoners escaped while he was supervising, and so he drew his sword to kill himself. But Paul, Silas and all the prisoners remained in their cells. When he found out that they haven?t escaped he ran in with a torch to see them. He knew why Paul and Silas were there. And he realized that they God they often preached about had come to deliver them. He had witnessed a miracle and so he sought to find out, ?How can I be saved?!? To many the reply was too easy: ?Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.?[Acts 16: 31].

What? That?s it? Just to accept and believe in Jesus Christ? No books to sell? No price to pay? There must be a catch, right?! No! For this is God?s stance pertaining to the matter of His salvation: ?Ho, every one that thirsteth, come ye to the waters, and he that hath no money; come ye, buy, and eat; yea, come, buy wine and milk without money and without price.? [Isaiah 55: 1]. See, God is all-knowing, so He knew that there is nothing that any sinful man could possibly give to appease His anger and judgment, therefore, He paid the price Himself. God sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to take upon Himself our sins, and poured out His wrath upon His Son on the cross of Calvary. It was in our place that Jesus died. It was for us that God forsook Him, for He bore our sins and God had to judge sins. Salvation is free for us, at least technically, because Jesus paid the price with His blood, body and ultimately, His life.

There is no great deed that we can do to possibly earn God?s salvation, for He paid the price by Himself. We played no part in His passion. All He requires is that we come to Him as we are, as sinners. It is His job to wash and cleanse and forgive us of our sins. He takes pleasure in loving us, transforming us from works that lead to death to deeds that lead to life. He made the Impossible possible by baring His cross. How can we be saved? God has the answer: ?If thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.? [Romans 10: 9]. Jesus died for our redemption and forgiveness, but He rose for our justification and hope of also being resurrected.

And at midnight Paul and Silas prayed, and sang praises unto God: and the prisoners heard them. And suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken: and immediately all the doors were opened, and every one's bands were loosed. And the keeper of the prison awaking out of his sleep, and seeing the prison doors open, he drew out his sword, and would have killed himself, supposing that the prisoners had been fled. But Paul cried with a loud voice, saying, ?Do thyself no harm: for we are all here.? Then he called for a light, and sprang in, and came trembling, and fell down before Paul and Silas, and brought them out, and said, ?Sirs, what must I do to be saved?? And they said, ?Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.? And they spake unto him the Word of the Lord, and to all that were in his house. And he took them the same hour of the night, and washed their stripes; and was baptized, he and all his, straightway. And when he had brought them into his house, he set meat before them, and rejoiced, believing in God with all his house.

As easy as that

It is as easy as that, "Believe on the Lord Jesus, and thou shalt be
save."
No theatrics, no bright lights or theophanies...just believe and you
are save, for Jesus has already paid the price for our sins.
Yes Khimani, i am a
hundred percent with you on this one...Bless.
