What does God have to say in all of this? Before I talk about Christ’s John 14 response, I’d like to bring your attention to His commands to us when it comes to matters of life and living. God is God, therefore He is well aware that we all have needs. He told us to seek first His Kingdom and His righteousness, and then all our needs will be given unto us. [St. Matthew 6: 25 - 34]. People without hope, He stated, set their affections of earthly splendour. So how many ways are there to prosperity? One, and it is in the will of the Lord. Whatever we have, if God is not pleased with it, then we are better-off without it.
But concerning the matter of getting into Heaven via multiple routes – the question is, “How about it? Is it at all possible?” Many religions and secular scholars would love to suggest so, but God is not like a man, and He cannot lie. In the book of St. John chapter 14, Jesus made it quite clear that He is not on par with many views and doctrines circulating today. He said, “I am the Way and the Truth and the Life. No one comes to the Father except through me!” [St. John 14: 6]. The only exception to getting into Heaven is to accept the One God the Father sent to die.
We are all sinners, hopeless, desperate, and powerless. There was no way into the presence of the Father, but though we offended God He gave us His Son to die for our sins. [Romans 5: 8]. It is with the coming of Jesus Christ that it became possible for man to have hope of eternal life, instead of eternal condemnation. There are no 7 ways into heaven, only one. It is the precious blood that Christ shed at Mount Calvary that can wash away our sins, not our good deeds or riches [I Peter 1: 17 – 21]. Jesus did not die in vain, and He would not have died if it wasn’t necessary. “Without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness”. [Hebrews 9:22].
Remember, “…just as the result of one trespass was condemnation for all men, so also the result of one act of righteousness was justification that brings life for all men. For just as through the disobedience of the one man the many were made sinners, so also through the obedience of the one man the many will be made righteous.” [Romans 5: 18 – 19]. Through one we are sinners, through One we are redeemed. There is only 1 way into Heaven.
