DESTINY 2010 E-mail
Written by Kayan Campbell

2009 has come and gone and long awaited 2010 has dawned new light on us almost unexpectedly. What seemed like one of the longest year packed with local as well as international dilemma has passed quite quickly and we must be grateful for life if nothing else as Christians/non-Christians.

Last year, God impressed the whole “Don’t waste your life” (DWYL) anthem on my life and while I didn’t accomplish all I would have liked to, it certainly taught me that ‘only what’s done for Christ will surely last’ and that’s essentially what the DWYL statement seeks to enforce in the hearts and minds of every Christian. Our lives here on earth are for Christ and involve living and working for Him.

Colossians 3:1-17 reminds us that as Christians our lives are hidden in Christ, we have put on the new man which is renewed (note the past tense) in knowledge after the image of Him that created him (i.e. God the Creator) and henceforth whatsoever we do in word or deed it should be done in the name of the Lord Jesus giving all glory and thanks to Him.

Homeless Being Fed on Christmas Day

December 25th 2009, the day when many considered being around love ones and families, was spent differently by over 140 persons who decided to volunteered at the annual “I Fed One Project” initiated by Spurr Music Empire, Fruitful Tree Ministries and Shekinah Ministries. The Devon House National Heritage Site in St. Andrew was the chosen meeting point and although closed to the public, was filled at the front Gazebos with volunteers clad in Jeans and white tops along with six (6) JUTC buses.

It was confirmed by event co-coordinators Wendell Lawrence, Director of Spurr Music Empire and Mark Johnson, Director of Fruitful Tree Ministries that the attendance this year’s project was two (2) times more than the previous year which was a pleasant surprise. Sponsors were

Take Off!

Let’s play a game shall we? The “Time Travel Game!”

Come with me as we go back in time. There was no gathering of folks in the wee hours of the morning to celebrate the New Year in a time of praise and thanks to God -  right after watch night service!
But wait! You’re asking if that can even work? Aren’t you weak, hungry and sleepy? Which crazy set of people would do that?

Crazy or not this is the approach that the Jamaica Youth for Christ (JYFC) - the same ministry partly responsible for several of Jamaica’s well known preachers including Errol Rattray - has and still undertakes every year on January 1.

How it began!

The highly anticipated festival, which teens, young adults and even the elderly have been attending since it began over two decades ago, is a staple for YFC as it not only refreshes the occupants but serves as a fundraiser aiding the ministry’s purpose, which is to spread the Word of God to the youth in their natural and arguably most influential environment -the school; simultaneously unearthing new talent...

A New Beginning! E-mail

A few days ago was Christmas Day. A few days from now will be New Years Day. We are at that time of the year when traditionally people would begin to make grand pledges for the New Year. Some will make promises to quit fornicating or start going to church or to make a life-changing decision. But as sure as the times we are living in changes, some things never change.

For some, the more things change the more they remain the same. They replace one sin with another and in the end are no better off. A man might vow to stop smoking cigarettes, only to take up gambling or drinking as a habit. The sinful lifestyle is a cycle that never changes, but Christ came to...

TRUST AND OBEY! E-mail
Written by Khimani A. Williams

There’s an old hymn song that has been lingering in my mind for some weeks now. It chorus goes: “Trust and obey, there is no other way to be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey.” I have been thinking on this song and its meaning and it is wonderful what I have found. The result is not what I have made it to be, but what it actually was: That if we are in Jesus Christ, the only way to be happy is to trust and obey His Word! This I have found to be a trustworthy fact and worthy of full acceptance.

In this world God is not the only voice; He is not the only speaker. His Word is secure and fixed (in that His Truth never changes), but there are so many attractive opposing ideas and philosophies rushing by that it becomes so difficul...
